- Hit your wear-time. Aim for 20 to 22 hours a day. The single biggest factor in staying on schedule is simply keeping your aligners in.
- Change trays at night. Switching to a new set before bed lets the initial snugness settle while you sleep.
- Only drink water with them in. Coffee, tea, and soda can stain aligners and, with sugar, sit against your teeth. Take trays out for anything but water.
- Clean them daily. Rinse and gently brush your aligners so they stay clear and odor-free. Avoid hot water, which can warp them.
- Always brush before reinserting. Popping aligners over food traps it against your teeth. Brush, or at least rinse, first.
- Use your case. The most common way aligners get lost is being wrapped in a napkin. Keep the case handy.
- Keep your last set. If you lose a tray, your previous set can hold your progress until we help, so do not toss the old ones right away.
